A Couple of Cards & A Challenge

Hello Again!

I am almost too late to join the Pixie's Crafty Workshop Challenge #349. I think these challenges are so much fun and I've gained so many friends from all over, lots in England. I so want to visit England!!

My first card is for the challenge using a snippet of an alcohol inked piece made recently. The hello is also from a snippet of the white card stock left over when I die cut out the postage stamp layers.

The pretty inked layer uses Ranger/Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks Cool Peri, Aqua, Stonewash, and Wild Plum with blending solution onto Yupo paper. It is so much fun playing with alcohol inks. Need to get more colors! :-) The card base is an old Stampin' Up! color that I do not remember what it is called. Am so glad they are showing purple colors again after some absence. I embossed the base with the SU Textured Impressions embossing folder called Houndstooth. Am not sure if I have ever used that before. To make interesting layers, I chose two from a Spellbinders set called Postage Stamps. To finish the card, the die cut hello is from the Concord & 9th Everyday Circle Dies set. I am happy with this card.

The second card was made to send to a friend in Oregon. I miss her and wanted to say hello.

A NBUS used here! The flower is from my really new Altenew Peony Dream 3D Die set. Several colors of SU yellow cardstock were used for the flower and two greens for the leaves. Colors are Gumball Green, Old Olive, So Saffron, Barely Banana, and Mango Melody. with a touch of YoYo Yellow. It was not easy to line up the dies, but the result is wonderfully textured, I think. Just Because was cut using My Favorite Things Label Maker Sentiments in Early Expresso ink on SU Very Vanilla cardstock as is the card base. The sentiment is raised up a bit with SU Mini Dimensionals, but the flower is glued flat for mailing ease. Am quite happy with this card too.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope to see you again.

  1. Two lovely cards and both so different. loving the Altenew peony.

  2. It's so fun seeing you play with your NBUS and your alcoholic inks, Jeanne! It's a good way to forget that snow is falling on April 10th! :( You've made two beautiful cards here with your snippets and your brand new peony! Love the textured background and the label maker sediment! I highly recommend a trip to England if you can manage it. Di and all the lovely ladies at Pixie's are a huge part of the reason I went! Hugs, Darnell

  3. Striking alcohol ink first card and such an elegant and pretty second card. Both cards are fabulous x

  4. beautiful cards Jeanne...that peony die can be difficult. that very thin piece needs to go on last, but the diagram has it going on the stack in a different order. I sent an email to Altenew a while back and they confirmed it.

  5. Love both of these cards Jeanne! I spotted Darnell's lovely comment above - and for sure if you decide you can make the trip, there are loads of us over here who would love to take care of you and show you around. Just let us know and we'll pitch in to organise things at this end!

    Di xx

  6. What fabulous richness in that AI panel, Jeanne ... the white really makes it pop! Beautiful bloom against the texture-y stripes ... your friend is sure to love it! Hugs, Anita :)
