Candles of Snippets

Hello!  Merry Christmas!

A quick post that I started on the 23rd when I was supposed to be wrapping presents. Just wanted to get a card to Di for her Pixie's Playhouse 311 &312, but when I checked it was too late. So now I'm submitting my card to Weeks 313 & 314.

My card really is made of snippets! I notice the date stamp says Feb but that's an error. Should be Dec. I have to take the sim card out of my camera to transfer pics to my computer (long story) and I don't always re-set the date correctly. :-(

I made this card CASEing one I made last year when Taylor of Taylored Expressions visited Minneapolis at my favorite craft store and showed us how to make a fancier card using her candle die called Poinsettia Candles. I don't believe it is available any longer. This card is made with SU Thick Whisper White cardstock and is top-folding. I partially cut the candle out of several snippets of white, silver, red and green then paper pieced them onto the silver cut out. A chore, but I ended up liking the simplicity of the card. The silver mirror paper from My Favorite Things. The red poinsettia part is from a SU Cherry Cobbler scrap and the green is a tiny bit of DCWV foiled cardstock. I wish I could find another pack of it! The greeting is inside and if I remember correctly, was silver embossed. It's been mailed, of course.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas. Have a Wonderful New Year too. See you next year.

Happy Hugs!

Merry Monday Christmas Pup

Seasons Greetings! Merry Christmas!

I just had to use one of my newest Christmas stamps! I've been buying a lot (my poor budget) but sure have gotten many great ones. More to come as I get time to blog. ;-)

Today's card uses the Patient Pup stamp from Stampendous. Isn't he adorable? I am entering this card in the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #268 - Santa Hat.
Being a dog lover, I had to have him! I used Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake to stamp him and fussy cut him out. I was afraid to try to color him, so I just let the details show in the black Versafine ink. His hat though, to me is special, so it was colored with the Zig Clean Color Carmine Red. To try to make the fur stand out, first it was colored with white colored pencil then with White Wink of Stella. Can you see I colored in circles with both to make it look furry?

Completing the card is a frame complete with Merry Christmas from Taylored Expressions called Picture Perfect - Horizontal. I bought it last year and never used it. More Ziggy in green this time along with the red colored on the letters looks festive to me. It was a challenge trying to figure out what to put inside until I got the idea to use an old stamp of unknown origins that says Peace*Love*Joy. Done. I am pleased.
