Purple and Blue Hello

Here's the card that I recently made for the Society of Stampaholics  September 2015 challenge. If you are not familiar with it, check it out and come join us! This monthly challenge is called CCC for Card Chain Challenge and this card was made specifically for Lisa at The Purple Place. She also loves purple.  :-) The card is pretty clean and simple with plenty of white space. Can you see the dry embossed background? It is much prettier in real life. The only stamping is the flower. I used the in-laid technique for the hello die with some blue bits and added enamel dots for balance. The card may meet the suggested friendship guideline, but the dots were supposed to be for the up-coming October challenge. Oops.

I used PTI white for the card base. The Bashful Blue, Purple Plum and Basic Black card stock, an embossing folder called Fancy Fan, and the Candy Dots are all from Stampin' Up!  The hello die is from Mama Elephant. The SU flower is from a set called Mixed Bunch and is cut out with the matching punch.

I am so into dies and punches and embossing folders that I rarely seem to use stamps anymore. Need to remedy that. Anyone else not using stamps much?

Thanks much for stopping by. Be back soon with fall or Halloween cards.

Thinking of You

Hello again!

Today I am posting my second card for Darnell's NBUS Challenge #5.

Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)
The NBUS today is the embossing powder just called Blue that I used for my sentimentI've had it for probably years, and never used it. I picked it out since it matched the blue in the striped paper so well. In real life, anyway. Sorry the shine doesn't show up very well in my photo. I am picky about matching shades and hues of blue, in particular, a teaching from my dad and my grandfather who both were painters. My grandfather painted in watercolors, which is probably why I am so scared of doing it. ;-) I do get my love of color from them, I'd imagine.

This pink card is a CASE of Dawn Olchefske's Double Fold Gate card. Did you see her tutorial on Splitcoaststampers last week? My card was really fun to make, but choosing what double sided paper to use was hard. I am not sure the name of the DSP, but I like the main pink, the retired Pretty in Pink, and the green is Old Olive. I couldn't figure out the name of the blue used in the stripes. So many "blues", so little time! LOL  All the paper supplies and the embossing powder used today are from Stampin' Up! The circle dies are from Spellbinders, which I have not used in ages.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Many thanks too, for those who comment. Love them!

I Love Roses

Hello!  As the picture of Double Delight  roses by my blog title suggest, I love roses. Sure miss growing them like I did when living in California. Anyway, here is my card for Darnell's NBUS Challenge #5 .

Two NBUS goodies show up here, the wonderful embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers called Bouquet, and the rose and leaves dies from Essentials by Ellen called Bold Blossoms. I think they are both wonderful. What do you think? The lovely card base is called Pale Plum, a retired color from Stampin' Up! as is the touch of color, called Garden Green. My mat is called Ash, a gray paper from Bazzill.

Not being sure if the focal point for this card is the background or the single rose, I completely left off a sentiment. Besides, the card is for a card drive sponsored by Jaydee and is intended for a hospitalized cancer patient. The nurses, as I understand it, write inside and give the donated cards to patients. You can find more information on the drive by following the link to Jaydee's blog.

That's all from here, a beautiful fall day in Minnesota. I hope you are having a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by.
